This technology event is being coordinated by Dr. Keshavamurthy Ramamurthy, Associate Professor of Management Information Systems at the School of Business Administration, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Six one-hour workshop sessions: Data Privacy Rules: Effects On Domestic and International Businesses by Mark F. Foley. Understand the latest in data privacy requirements including: web site privacy policies, financial data privacy, and personal data protection for employees and customers. E-Commerce Failures - A Case Study Approach to Busted Projects by R. Timothy Muth. Review case studies involving lawsuits where vendors failed to deliver on their promises. The systems did not live up to expectations or were not delivered at all. Addressing Those Nagging Legal Issues Involving B2B Security by Jeffrey P. Aiken. Understand that establishing or participating in B2B networks involves extensive security considerations from technical, administrative, and legal points of view. Capitalizing on e-Commerce Intellectual Property Assets by Leslie Miller. Protect core assets of your business on the internet by understanding that copyright, trade secret, patents, and trademarks all have a role in reducing the risk that your online development efforts can be simply replicated by your competitors. Web Site Audit: Why Ought it? by Andrew J. Schlidt. Learn how web site audits address the often overlooked legal issues associated with the infringement and protection of intellectual property, navigational loopholes affecting enforceability of e-commerce transactions, and hidden liability exposures and risk management techniques for your company. Health Data and Privacy Issues for the Non-Health Care Provider by Robyn Meinhardt. Understand how the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) will affect your business, requiring companies to revamp their data collection, privacy, and security procedures.

All six of the workshop speakers are practicing attorneys in the information technology area of their Milwaukee area law firms. Foley & Lardner Mark F. Foley is a Partner and currently works in their e-Business and Information Technology Practice Group. Robyn Meinhardt is a Partner and currently works in their e-Business and Information Technology Practice Group. Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren S.C. Leslie Miller is a Shareholder and currently works in their Intellectual Property Department. R. Timothy Muth is a Shareholder and currently works in their Computer & Technology Law Practice Group. Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C. Jeffrey P. Aiken is a Shareholder in charge of the firms IT & e-Commerce Team and chair of the State Bar IT & e-Commerce Committee. Andrew J. Schlidt III is the lead transaction counsel for the firms IT & e-Commerce Team.
