About the speaker
Dr. Ravi Kalakota is a noted pioneer in the area of e-business. He is the CEO of e-Business Strategies (EBS) - a research and innovation practice designed to help start-ups and large companies create next-generation business models.
Ravi holds the distinction of having authored the first-ever book on e-commerce, "Frontiers of E-commerce" Addison-Wesley (1995), and continues to be at the forefront of "e" thought and development. His book, "e-Business: Roadmap for Success" (Addison-Wesley, 1999) is a national best-seller. His latest book, "e-Business 2.0: Roadmap for Success" (Addison-Wesley, 2001) further examines recent developments in the digital economy and was recently No. 8 on Amazon.coms Business Best Seller list.
Ravi, with the team at EBS, is systematically researching the building blocks needed to implement e-business models. Some current research areas include: mobile commerce business models, click and brick models, and e-service platforms. In addition to research, Ravi consults extensively with Fortune 1000 companies. Some of his clients include Intel, GE Capital, SC Johnson, SAP, Sun Microsystems, Oracle, AT&T, IBM, EDS, Arthur Andersen, Compaq, and Pivotal.
