A full day seminar featuring Dr. Donald Ferguson, IBM. This seminar is coordinated and co-sponsored by Dr. Mariam Zahedi, Wisconsin Distinguished Professor at the UWM School of Business.
Overview
Web Application Servers and the programming models that they implement are critical elements for designing and deploying eBusiness Applications. In this seminar, we will examine Web Application Servers from "Soup to Nuts." First, we will start with a sample application scenario and explain the design and development of the "parts" that comprise an eBusiness application. These include:
Static and Dynamic Pages
Java Server Pages and Servlets
XML Request/Document Handlers and the Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP)
HTTP Session State
Enterprise JavaBeans
Adaptor/Connector Beans
Message Processing
Application and Database Integration
The seminar will then discuss the system topologies and designs for configuring scalable, highly available eBusiness sites. We will end with discussion of system management and problem determination issues.

Don is also a member of the IBM Academy of Technology. He received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Columbia University in 1989. His Ph.D. applied concepts and algorithms from economics to resource management problems in distributed systems and computer networks. This included work on system load balancing, data replication and file placement and network flow control.
Who should Attend?
Web developers, programmers, project leaders, IT managers, web masters, eBusiness strategists, and anyone who is interested in learning in-depth about eBusiness applications with web applications servers.
