Two full day seminars presented by Gentry Bieker. This workshop is being coordinated by Dr. Mariam Zahedi, Wisconsin Distinguished Professor in the MIS area at the School of Business Administration, University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee.

Overview

This two-day workshop (April 28 and May 12) provides attendees with the knowledge and skills to create ASP.NET 2.0 applications. It will show the advancement from ASP.NET 1.X to ASP.NET 2.0 in creating applications. The workshop focuses on new features and functionality of ASP.NET The workshop includes sample code in both Microsoft® Visual Basic® .NET and Microsoft Visual C#®. Both days will include hands-on lab time.

Topics

State Management - This topic discusses the enhancements to the Session objects in ASP.NET 2.0. This includes: configuring control state, extending the session state mechanism, and creating ASP.NET cache object Working with Web Parts - This topic discusses how the Web Parts framework provides a way for Web applications to support end-user personalization. Includes: building pages with Web parts, editable Web parts, and connecting to other Web parts Personalization - This topic will show how to build an effective personalization layer into a Web application by employing user profiles and themes. Includes: personalization, creating and managing user profiles, and using themes Implementing ASP.NET 2.0 Security - This topic shows how forms-based authentication in ASP.NET 2.0 is arguably the only viable approach to restricting access to real-world Web sites. Includes: forms authentication, security-related controls, and managing membership and roles

About the speaker

Gentry Bieker is an Enterprise Architect and instructor for Inacom Information Systems. His certifications include MCT, MCSE, MCSA, MCSE:Security and MCDBA. He has been in the field since 1997 and was the architect of Inacom’s Education data mart and Sharepoint Portal. He has taught courses in a number of areas, including SQL Server, IIS and Web Application Security, and Microsoft .NET development (C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET).

Who should Attend?

This workshop is intended for experienced Web application developers. This could include those employed by software companies, those working on corporate Web development teams as well as faculty members and graduate students. Participants should have some prior understanding of ASP.NET 1.0, HTML, XML, and ADO.NET.
